Uninstalling the app starts a 48-hour countdown. After that, all your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. If you want to stop billing without losing your catalog, pause your subscription instead.

Uninstalling is different from cancelling

Cancelling your subscription (from inside PopUp) gives you a 30-day grace window. Uninstalling the app from Shopify is different — it triggers a mandatory data deletion within 48 hours. This is a Shopify App Store requirement that applies to every app, and we cannot override it.

What happens when you uninstall

TimeframeWhat happens
ImmediatelyYour POS tile stops working
Within 48 hoursAll your data is safe — products, categories, settings all intact
After 48 hoursShopify sends a deletion request and everything is permanently removed

If you reinstall within 48 hours

Your catalog will be restored. You may need to log out of Shopify POS and log back in to reload your product list — the app on the device sometimes caches the old (empty) state.

The right way to stop billing

If you want to pause billing — for the off-season, a break, or any other reason — don’t uninstall the app. Use the Pause option inside PopUp instead. Pausing keeps your full catalog intact for up to 2 years and lets you resume exactly where you left off.

Before you uninstall

If you do need to uninstall, export your catalog first so you have a backup:
  1. In the Shopify Admin, open PopUp
  2. Go to Products
  3. Tap Export CSV
Keep the file somewhere safe. If you ever start fresh, you can re-import it.
