When a vendor taps a weight-based product in the POS, a keypad appears with a toggle to choose how to enter the weight. The Weight mode default setting controls which mode that toggle opens in.

Changing the default

  1. In the PopUp admin, go to Settings
  2. Find the Weight mode default section
  3. Choose your preferred default:
    • % w/w — the keypad accepts a single decimal number (e.g. 0.73 for 0.73 lbs). Use this if your scale displays a decimal reading.
    • Weight — the keypad accepts a compound reading where digits before the decimal are the larger unit and digits after are the smaller unit directly (e.g. 2.5 = 2 lb 5 oz, or 1.350 = 1 kg 350 g). Use this if your scale displays lb/oz or kg/g.
  4. Tap Save
The new default takes effect immediately the next time a product is opened in the POS.

Per-product memory

The POS remembers the last mode used for each product on that device. If a vendor switches a product from the default to a different mode, it will open in that mode next time — on that device only. Switching to a different POS device resets to the store default.

Which mode to choose

If you’re unsure, leave it as % w/w — it works the same as before this feature was added, and vendors can always toggle per-product.
