# Product types

> Weight and item products — when to use each.

Every PopUp product is one of two types:

## Weight

You enter the weight at the time of sale. PopUp calculates the price automatically (weight × price per unit).

**When to use:** Fresh produce, cheese, honey sold by weight, bulk grains, herbs — anything priced by how much it weighs.

**Units supported:** lbs, oz, kg, g

**Example:** Heirloom Tomatoes at $4.50/lb. Customer buys 0.82 lbs → PopUp adds $3.69 to the cart.

## Item

A flat price per item. Tap to add to the cart — no weight entry needed.

**When to use:** Pre-packaged goods, eggs by the dozen, jars with a fixed price, add-ons.

**Example:** Raw Honey 8oz at $12.00. Tap once → $12.00 added to the cart.

## Mixing types in one transaction

You can add weight and item products in the same cart. Each appears as a separate line item at checkout.

## Changing the type

You can switch a product's type when editing it. Note: switching from Weight to Item clears the unit setting.
