# Deleting a category

> Remove a category from your catalog.

Deleting a category removes it permanently. Products that were assigned to that category are not deleted — they move to the unassigned (All) state.

## Delete a category

1. Open the category in the Shopify Admin
2. Tap **Delete** at the bottom of the form
3. Confirm in the dialog

  Deleting a category cannot be undone. Products in that category are not deleted, but they'll appear in the All tab instead.
