# Adding a category

> Create a category to group products in the POS browser.

✅ **Season Pass & Annual only.** Categories are not available on the Free plan.

Categories appear as tabs in the PopUp POS browser. Tap a tab to filter the product list to that category.

## Add a category

1. In the Shopify Admin, open PopUp and go to **Categories**
2. Tap **Add category**
3. Enter a name (e.g. "Vegetables", "Dairy", "Honey")
4. Optionally add a tile (color + illustration)
5. Tap **Save**

## Assign products to this category

Products are assigned to categories from the product edit screen, not from the category itself:

1. Open a product
2. In the **Category** field, tap your new category name
3. Save the product

## Tips

* Keep category names short — they appear as tabs in POS
* You don't need many categories — 3–6 works well for most vendors
* Products without a category appear in the **All** tab
