# Adding categories

> Organize your products into groups for faster browsing.

Categories let you group products in PopUp — for example, Vegetables, Fruit, Pastry, and Merch. Tap a category tab to see only those products.

🌱 **Free plan:** Categories are not available. Upgrade to Season Pass or Annual to use categories.

## Add a category

    ### In the Shopify Admin:

    1. Open PopUp and go to **Categories**
    2. Tap **Add category**
    3. Enter a name
    4. Optionally add a tile (color + artwork)
    5. Tap **Save**

    1. Open PopUp and go to **Admin**
    2. Select Categories / **+ Add Category**
    3. Enter a name
    4. Optionally add a tile (color + artwork)
    5. Tap **Save**

## Assign products to a category

Categories are assigned on the product, not in the category itself:

1. Open a product (or create a new one)
2. In the **Category** field, tap the category name
3. Save the product

## Tips

* Categories appear as tiles on the Shop page in PopUp
* A product can only belong to one category
* Products without a category appear in the **All** tab
* You can remove a product from a category by assigning it to **None**
